Wedding first dance lessons, built around you
Almost every couple who walks into the studio says a version of the same thing: we have two left feet. That is the normal starting point, not the exception. Lessons begin with how you already stand and move together, and the choreography is written to fit — never the other way round.
You bring the song. We cut it to length if it needs cutting, choose the style that suits its tempo, and build a dance you can repeat without counting in your head. Lessons run one hour, usually weekly, in a private Midtown studio with no other couples watching.
Sandro has choreographed first dances for New York couples for over a decade after a career on Broadway, with 600+ five-star reviews on The Knot.
How many lessons you need
2–3 lessons
A simple, confident first dance
Enough to learn a clean frame, a sway, two turns and a finish. Right for couples who want to look comfortable rather than choreographed, or who are booking close to the wedding date.
4–6 lessons
Full choreography to your song
The most common choice. We cut your song, build a dance around its structure, and rehearse it until it is muscle memory. Most couples start eight to twelve weeks out.
8–12 lessons
Mash-ups and showstoppers
Surprise tempo changes, dips and lifts, or a bridal-party number. Rehearsal-heavy work that wants three months of lead time.

Questions couples ask first
- How many wedding dance lessons do we need?
- Most couples need four to six private lessons for a choreographed first dance. Two or three is enough for a simple, confident dance; a mash-up with tempo changes or lifts usually takes eight to twelve.
- How much do wedding dance lessons cost in NYC?
- Private wedding dance lessons in New York City typically run $150–$250 per hour-long session for a couple. We price by package so you know the total before you start — the consultation call is free.
- When should we start?
- Eight to twelve weeks before the wedding is ideal. It gives you weekly lessons with room to miss one. We regularly take couples with three or four weeks left, and occasionally the week of.
- We have never danced. Is that a problem?
- No. Most of our couples have never taken a dance lesson. Every step is built to fit what you can already do, and nothing is added until the previous piece feels easy.
- Where do lessons take place?
- In a private Midtown Manhattan studio, close to Grand Central and Penn Station. We also travel to venues and homes across Manhattan, Brooklyn and the surrounding area on request.
